About
In a time when almost nothing seems new, the rediscovery of William Klein’s photographs comes as a revelation and puts the development of modern photography into a new perspective. Combining black humor, lyricism, and social observation with continual graphic invention, Klein has produced a dynamically original body of work that has influenced a generation of photographers. This retrospective monograph, designed by Klein, with a lively profile by John Heilpern, brings together for the first time the most compelling images from Klein’s early work, along with unpublished and recent photographs that demonstrate that his eye has lost none of sharpness or relevancy.
