About Girlfriends
So, Opies work is often queer, and her new exhibition Girlfriends is no different. Two years after her retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum, Opie then returned to her community roots with this photography. A knockout show of new and never before seen portraits exhibited at the Gladstone Gallery. All together, Girlfriends shows Opie continuing to explore the hidden territories behind constructed facades.
