About Fire: February 6
Fire: February 6 (One Picture Book #13) documents one of the artists home town celebrations, the annual Shingu Fire Festival. Firstly, gathered at night in the Kannokura shrine, participants kindle a single flame. From which each light pine torches. As a result, they descend the stone steps, creating a river of fire in the evening sky. So, the torches are then taken to each home in the community and used to rekindle fires. Therefore, signifying regeneration as the winter draws to a close.
