About Second City
This is Jesse Marlow’s monograph, that involves his hometown Melbourne. It contains photographs made between the years 1998 and 2004, which is before the city had its boom. So, the collection contains 44 black and white images that document the transition and expansion of Melbourne. The book features a foreword by Tony Birch, who is a Melbournian author. Further, the designer of the books is Yanni Florence. The result is an elegant monograph that reminds the viewer of the vibrant, sparkling energy of a changing city. Marlow becomes the observant watching the major shift happen. So, this monograph contains Marlow’s early work and takes us with him to explore his hometown. This way, we chase him as he walks up and down familiar roads, new to most of us, as they transformed into a modern, booming Melbourne.
