About The Journal of Edwin Carp
If you’ve ever wondered just what goes on in the mind of that marvelously comical character actor Richard Haydn, then you won’t believe what you are about to read: his only book. It’s a wonderful tale of absurdity from the star of Forever Amber, Sitting Pretty, The Twilight Zone, and of course, Alice in Wonderland. It is a book that cannot be described. You have to read it. But as Mr. Haydn himself explains on page 3, “I am determined to spare no pains to ensure that the entries in this journal be both permanently and universally interesting.” You shall enjoy.
Artist Bio
Ronald Searle was born in Cambridge in 1920 and was also educated there at the Cambridge School of Art. On the outbreak of the Second World War he left his studies to serve in the Royal Engineers and in 1942 was captured by the Japanese at Singapore, then held by them for three and a half years. He is a hugely successful graphic artist and pictorial satirist. As well as his collaboration with Geoffrey Willans on the Molesworth books and his invention of St Trinians, his work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions across the world and appears in several major American and European collections. He moved to Paris in 1961 and then, in 1975, to a remote village in Haute-Provence. He died on December 30th, 2011.
