About the Book When Rajshahi is divided by the newly drawn border of 1947, Arun Senguptas family leaves behind their home carrying little more than a few treasured books, a fistful of earth, and an unshakable belief that knowledge can survive even the greatest loss. Beginning again in Kolkata, Arun dedicates himself to a simple but radical idea: education should belong to everyone. As refugees rebuild their lives, he creates classrooms wherever he can and develops a way of teaching that blends respect for tradition with the practical demands of survival. His son grows up among broken radios and discarded projectors, transforming that inheritance into a new language of learning. His granddaughter carries the legacy even further, taking Aruns quiet vision beyond anything he could have imagined.
